Condition  When scanning for DTCs during diagnostic work, technicians may find a history code U0121 in the Front View Camera Module (FVCM).
Cause  Due to a FVCM software anomaly, DTC U0121 may set falsely in the FVCM. Code U0121 will set and transition to history status in the FVCM with each ignition cycle.

CORRECTION

IMPORTANT:

Do NOT reprogram or replace the FVCM for a history DTC U0121 set in the FVCM.

A FVCM DTC U0121, setting in history, without any other camera related symptoms, should NOT be diagnosed. If a technician attempts to diagnose a history DTC U0121 set in the FVCM, this will lead him down the wrong diagnostic path.

If DTC U0121 is set current, then refer to SI and perform normal diagnostics.

DTC U0121 setting in history in the FVCM without any other camera related symptoms is considered a phantom code - take no further action.
