Initialization/Teach Procedure
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2016 Cadillac CTS. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
"Teach" refers to the sunroof system's learning a baseline profile for the system. This is almost always done following an initialization.
For a new E-Drive System, the sequence of steps to initialize and teach the sunroof is outlined below. The "Glass Close" switch must be held down during the entire initialization and teach process or the sequence shall be aborted (all roof panels stop) and the roof shall de-initialize itself. To verify the process was successful, release the "Glass Close" switch and then press and release the "Glass Open" switch and this should perform a "One Touch open" operation.
- With the glass closed, press and hold the "Glass Close" switch.
- The glass panel shall move toward the "Front hard-stop" and stall for 400 milliseconds (0.4 seconds), then the glass panel will then back-up slightly to the full close soft stop.
- The shade shall automatically move toward the "Front hard-stop" and stall for 400 milliseconds (0.4 seconds), then back-up slightly to the shade panel full close soft stop. This completes the initialization.
- To execute a "Teach Procedure," release the "Glass Close" switch, then press and hold the "Glass Close" switch within three seconds of releasing the switch.
- The shade panel shall automatically open then the glass panel will automatically open.
- The glass will then begin it's "Teach Procedure" (automatic close) and the glass panel will close.
- The "Teach Procedure" is completed once both the glass and shade panels are fully closed.
- This completes the "Initialization and Teach Procedure." Release the "Glass Close" switch
