Front View Camera Module Learn: Calibration

For North American SPS users, Calibration will NOT start automatically  and will need to be initiated with GDS2. For European SPS users, Calibration will start automatically  and will not need to be initiated with GDS2.

The calibration process for the front view camera system is necessary when a front view camera module is replaced by a new one. This process is required when only replacing the windshield  and the frontview camera module has been mounted again properly. This process shall be completed within 3 - 5 minutes when the correct driving conditions are met. If conditions are not met, the K109 Frontview Camera Module will attempt to complete the service point calibration for 20 minutes after initialized. If the service point calibration does not complete within 20 minutes key-off the vehicle and the service point calibration will automatically restart on the next ignition cycle. This process shall work across ignition cycles and shall not be required to be re-initialized at start up. If the Lane Departure Warning or Lane Keep Assist Switch is pressed during calibration, the indictor will flash momentarily and then stay out - this is normal operation.

During this time the Lane Departure Warning or Lane Keep Assist amber indicator will illuminate.

To calibrate the front camera, operate the vehicle in the following conditions until the calibration is complete:

NOTE:

If the front view camera module calibration is not completed during the current ignition cycle, it will restart in next ignition cycle. "Service Front Camera" will be displayed until successful calibration and DTC B1008 4B may be active.

When Lane Departure Warning is on, the indicator is green if Lane Departure Warning is available to warn of a lane departure. If the vehicle crosses a detected lane marking without using the turn signal in that direction, the indicator changes to amber and flashes. To verify if the system is working the indicator on the switch should remain illuminated once pressed, and when up to speeds greater than 35 mph (56 km/h), the lane departure indicator will illuminate on the instrument cluster.

The power mode be in ACCY for the calibration process to become enabled by using the scan tool. GDS2 will display a "loss of com" error message when the procedure is attempted in any power mode other than ACCY.

Calibration Procedure (Required for North American SPS users)

  1. Apply the parking brake.
  2. Place the transmission in Park (if applicable)
  3. Place vehicle in ACCY Power Mode
  4. Install scan tool
  5. Navigate to the module diagnostics menu
  6. Select Frontview Camera Module
  7. Select Configuration/Reset Functions menu Item
  8. Select the Frontview Camera Learn procedure and follow the directions displayed on the screen.
  9. Drive the vehicle to complete calibration.

Once the procedure is complete, the amber indicator will turn off. Shortly after the green ready to assist light should turn on as long as all conditions are met for normal operation. The system is then ready to assist.
