Replace and Program Control Module or Reprogram Control Module
To program a replacement or an existing control module, perform the following procedure:
- Install EL-49642 SPS programming support tool.
- Access the Service Programming System (SPS) and follow the on-screen instructions.
- Due to a change in SPS you must select 'Reprogram ECU', for Telematics Communication Interface Control Module Programming from the Selected Programming Process even if the unit is being replaced.
- If 'Replace and Program ECU' is selected the Telematics Communication Interface Control Module will not be listed in the Supported Controllers screen. You must go back and select 'Reprogram ECU'.
NOTE: - In the SPS Supported Controllers screen, select K73 Telematics Communication Interface Control Module Programming and Service Activation and follow the on-screen instructions.
- At the end of programming, choose the "Clear All DTCs" function on the SPS screen.
- Ensure the ignition is ON and the vehicle has not moved for at least one minute.
- Press and hold the TEST button on the telematics communication interface keypad assembly for at least 4 sec.
- You will hear "Emergency call system test in progress", then follow the audible instructions.
