Reprogram a Control Module after Transmission Repair/Replacement

To program an existing K71 Transmission Control Module, after a transmission repair/replacement, perform the following procedure:

  1. Ignition/Vehicle - Off
  2. NOTE:

    Begin with the vehicle in vehicle OFF power mode. The Service Programming System will power mode the vehicle.

  3. Access the Service Programming System (SPS) and follow the on-screen instructions.
  4. On the SPS Supported Controllers screen select K71 Transmission Control Module - Programming, and follow the on screen instructions.
  5. Perform the Refresh Characterization Data at the MCVM Characterization procedure. Refer to Q77 Transmission Control Solenoid Valve Characterization Programming (8L45) 
  6. Perform the scan tool configuration/reset function: Transmission Service Fast Learn - If available
