Clutch Coil Replacement
- REMOVE SHAFT NUT
Hold clutch hub stationary with spanner wrench. Remove shaft nut with a socket wrench. Remove lock washer (if so equipped).

Spanner Wrench
- REMOVE CLUTCH PLATE
Screw clutch front plate remover into hub. Tighten center screw and remove front plate and shims.
CAUTION: Do not use screw-drivers to pry front plate off of pulley, as this may damage front plate.Tool Reference No. 2
Front Plate Remover
- REMOVE PULLEY
Remove pulley snap ring and pull pulley assembly off at compressor.

External Snap Ring Pliers
- REPLACE COIL
Remove clutch coil snap ring, disconnect wires and slide coil off of front cover. Ensure coil alignment pin is tightly seated in front cover. Install coil, making sure hole on back of coil aligns with pin. Install snap ring, bevel side out, making sure it is fully seated in groove. Reconnect wires.

External Snap Ring Pliers
- INSTALL PULLEY
Install pulley assembly. If necessary, hold block of wood on grease slinger and tap gently until pulley is seated. Install snap ring, bevel side out, making sure it is fully seated in groove.
CAUTION: Do not mar factional (front) surface of pulley. Straighten grease slinger if distorted by tapping. - INSTALL CLUTCH PLATE
Install shims and clutch front plate on shaft. With front plate tight against shims, measure for a 0.020 - 0.035" air gap between plate and pulley face, Add or subtract shims as necessary to obtain proper gap. Install lock washer (if so equipped) and shaft not. Hold hub with spanner wrench and torque nut to 12 ft. lbs. Recheck air gap.
