Full Function System (W/Elec. Spark Timing)

Fig. 1 Computer Command Control (C-3) System Operation Full Function System:

PURPOSE
Computer Command Control (C-3) is an electronically controlled emission and fuel control system. The C-3 system uses an Electronic Control Module (ECM) to monitor engine and vehicle operating conditions in order to control systems affecting engine performance.

OPERATION
The system, Fig. 1, operates different control systems, depending upon application, including: fuel control and air management systems, ignition timing, and Transmission Converter Clutch (TCC).

Both systems have back-up programs which allow near normal vehicle operation in case of a system malfunction, and a "Check Engine" or "Service Engine Soon" lamp on the instrument panel to alert the operator to malfunctions. This same lamp, operating through an internal diagnostic circuit, allows many system malfunctions to be diagnosed and located for repair.
