Fuel Injection System - Diesel: Description
The 1.8L diesel fuel injection system consists of a mechanical injection pump, high pressure fuel lines, injection nozzles, a fuel filter/water separator, a fuel cut-off solenoid and a glow plug system.
The glow plug system consists of an electronic control module, glow plug indicator, dropping resistor, sensing resistor, glow plugs, thermo switch, 2 glow plug relays and 2 fusible links.
The engine is electronically controlled in the start and warm-up modes to permit easier cold starting and cold driving. The electronic module monitors and corrects combustion chamber temperatures during preheat and afterglow modes.
The engine has an EGR system to control emissions. The EGR system components include an EGR control module, speed sensor, coolant sensor and control lever position sensor. A vacuum pump on back of alternator provides vacuum to EGR valve.
