Fuel Injection System - Diesel: Overhaul: Injectors: Reassembly
- Insert valve into spray tip. Install spring, spring seat, and retainer. Using a clean, unpainted piece of steel as a base, compress spring.
- Push on retainer and slide to a center position after spring has been compressed. After assembly, rotate retainer to assure proper seating of components. Install nozzle tip into body.
- Insert inlet fitting into body. Tighten to 35 ft. lbs. (47 N.m). Test injector. See Testing in this article.
- Install new copper washer before assembling into engine. It may be necessary to crimp washer slightly to create an interference fit so it will remain in place.
