CODE 14 (Shorted Coolant Sensor Circuit)

  1. Ground ALDL test terminal and connect dwell meter to feedback solenoid (6-cyl. scale). Run engine at part throttle until dwell starts to vary.
  2. Remove connector from coolant sensor. If dwell varies, go to step 3). If dwell is fixed, replace coolant sensor.
  3. Remove wire terminal No. 17 from ECM connector. Connect test light from battery to wire terminal No. 17. DO NOT connect test light to ECM. If light is on, repair grounded wire. If light is not on, check for open or shorted wire. If okay, replace ECM.
