Code A011, Abs Warning Light CKT, Open Or Shorted To Ground: Notes
Light driver module turns on ABS warning light unless Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) provides a ground circuit to turn it off. Because of light driver module internal circuitry, only external faults can be detected. ABS warning light itself cannot be diagnosed, only control line to EBCM can be diagnosed. If circuit No. 1290 (Dark Blue wire) becomes open, ABS light will always be on due to loss of ground at light driver module. If control circuit is shorted to ground, ABS light will remain off.
NOTE:
Test numbers refer to numbers on diagnostic chart.
- Checks if ABS warning light is functioning properly. Normal operation would indicate no problem is present.
- Determines if any other codes are present, or if Code A018 is falsely set.
- Verifies circuit from EBCM to light driver module is complete.
- Verifies ignition circuit to light driver module is okay. An open GAUGES fuse or open in circuit No. 3 (Pink wire), circuit No. 39 (Pink/Black wire) or circuit No. 865 (Purple wire) will result in inoperative indicator lights.
- Isolates cause of ABS warning light remaining off. By disconnecting 24-pin connector, circuit No. 1290 (Dark Blue wire) should open, causing ABS light to illuminate.
