Code A051, Rear Axle Motor Spins Freely: Notes

This code is designed to detect a stripped gear or nut assembly during initialization. During the homing sequence, piston should reach top of bore resulting in a stalled motor. If motor does not stall, motor must be free spinning with little or no resistance, indicating a nut, screw or gear failure.

NOTE: Test numbers refer to numbers on diagnostic chart.
  1. Determines if gear or nut are slipping. If either are slipping, it would result in a lack of hydraulic pressure being applied at rear wheels, causing wheels to be able to be moved.
  2. When ball screw reaches top of its travel during full application, motor should stall. If motor continues to run, this indicates a gear or nut is stripped.
  3. Releases motor pack tension before removal.
