Test Description

NOTE: Test numbers refer to numbers on diagnostic chart.
  1. A hard failure is indicated if scan tester displays a temperature greater than 140°C. Code P0117 chart should be used. If a normal temperature is indicated, inspect circuit for a short to ground from ECT sensor, back to PCM.
  2. Sensor wire is intermittently shorted to ground when ECT harness is removed, and scan tester changes from a normal temperature to greater than 140°C. Thoroughly inspect ECT harness for a bare wire that is contacting ground.
