Test Description

NOTE: Test numbers refer to numbers on diagnostic chart.
  1. A hard failure is indicated if scan tester shows a temperature of about -40°C or less. Code P0118 chart should be used. If a normal temperature is indicated, inspect circuits for an intermittent open from ECT sensor, back to PCM.
  2. Sensor circuits are intermittently opening when ECT harness is removed, and scan tester changes from a normal temperature to about -40°C. Thoroughly inspect harness and ECT/PCM connectors for intermittent open.
  3. DO NOT  replace ECT sensor unless circuits have been thoroughly inspected from ECT to PCM.
