Description & Operation

NOTE: Body Control Module (BCM) may also be referred to as Multi-Function Alarm, Lock & Lighting (MALL) module.

Three different types of Body Control Modules (BCMs) are available. BCM-2 performs the following functions: Illumination control, inadvertent load control, chime/warning functions, retained accessory power, feature customization, power door lock control (including lockout prevention), last door closed locking, shift into park unlock, shift out of park lock, and automatic door lock and unlock functions. BCM-3 provides the same features as BCM-2, and includes functions that allow BCM features to work with remote keyless entry subsystem. BCM-4 provides the same features as BCM-2 and BCM-3, and includes remote activation verification, remote alarm, and content theft deterrent system functions.

When BCM activates the feature customization mode, the following functions can be customized: Interior lighting; automatic door lock; last door closed and lockout deterrent; remote driver's door unlock control; remote lock and unlock confirmation; remote activation verification; content theft deterrent/shock sensor control; and content theft deterrent arming and disarming.
