WARNING:
Deactivate air bag system before performing any service operation. See AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEM article. DO NOT apply electrical power to any component on steering column without first deactivating air bag system. Air bag may deploy.
NOTE:
Body Control Module (BCM) may also be referred to as Multi-Function Alarm, Lock & Lighting (MALL) module.
Body Control Module (BCM) is used to perform various body control functions. Three different types of BCMs are available. BCM-2 performs the following functions: Interior lighting control, inadvertent load control, chime/warning functions, feature customization, and automatic power door lock control. BCM-3 provides the same features as BCM-2, and includes functions that allow BCM features to work with remote keyless entry system. BCM-4 provides the same features as BCM-2 and BCM-3, and includes content theft deterrent system and key cylinder lock/unlock functions.
When BCM activates the feature customization mode, the following functions can be customized: Interior lighting, automatic door lock, keyless entry and content theft deterrent.
