BCM Feature Customization & Diagnostic Modes

  1. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove BCM PRGRM fuse (10-amp) from fuse block. Turn ignition switch to ACC position. At this time, vehicle is now in feature customization mode. Seat belt indicator and chime will activate 2-4 times to indicate which type of BCM is used in vehicle. Ensure installed BCM is compatible with features available on vehicle. Replace BCM if necessary.
  2. To enter diagnostics mode, turn ignition switch to LOCK, then back to ACC position within one second. To confirm that BCM has entered diagnostics mode, ensure all doors are closed. Open and close any door. Fasten and unfasten driver's seat belt. When BCM is in diagnostics mode, a chime should sound when BCM receives input signal from door and seat belt. If BCM does not sound chime, repeat step 1). If BCM does not enter diagnostics mode after second attempt, see procedures in BCM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under DIAGNOSTIC TESTS.
  3. When BCM enters diagnostics mode, BCM will sound chime and flash seat belt indicator 1-8 times to indicate Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). See BCM DTC DEFINITIONS  . If more than one DTC exists, codes will be flashed in sequence with a pause between codes. DTCs will repeat 3 times. To clear DTCs, see CLEARING DTCS  .
  4. After all DTCs have been displayed, BCM will enter input/output diagnostics. See INPUT/OUTPUT DIAGNOSTICS. To exit diagnostics, turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Reinstall BCM PRGRM fuse. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. BCM should return to normal operation.
