Charge Indicator Light Inoperative
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect generator connector. Using a 3-amp fused jumper wire, connect generator harness connector terminal "L" (Brown wire) to ground. Turn ignition on, engine off. If charge indicator light does not illuminate, go to next step. If charge indicator light illuminates, go to step 3 .
- Check Brown wire for high resistance or opens. If problem was not found, go to step 4 . If problem was found, repair and go to step 5 .
- Check generator connector for poor connections. If connector is good, replace generator. See GENERATOR under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Go to step 5 .
- Replace Vehicle Control Module (VCM) and retest. See REMOVAL, OVERHAUL & INSTALLATION - CARS article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. Go to next step.
- Operate system in order to verify repair.
