Test 2: Left Front Window Inoperative

  1. Disconnect left front window motor connector. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Connect a test light between left front window motor connector Dark Blue wire and Brown wire terminals. While observing test light, move left front window switch on master switch assembly to UP and DOWN positions. If test light illuminates in both positions, go to step  15 . If test light does not illuminate in both positions, go to next step.
  2. Disconnect master switch assembly connector. Using a DVOM, check continuity of Brown wire between master switch assembly connector and left front window motor connector. If continuity exist, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, go to step  4 .
  3. Connect a test light between ground and master switch assembly connector Brown wire terminal. If test light illuminates, go to step  5 . If test light does not illuminate, go to step  6 .
  4. Repair poor connection or open in Brown wire between master switch assembly and left front window motor. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Recheck system operation.
  5. Repair short to voltage in Brown wire between master switch assembly and left front window motor. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Recheck system operation.
  6. Connect a test light between battery voltage and master switch assembly connector Brown wire terminal. If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step  8 .
  7. Repair short to ground in Brown wire between master switch assembly and left front window motor. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Recheck system operation.
  8. Using a DVOM, check continuity of Dark Blue wire between master switch assembly and left front window motor. If continuity exists, go to step  10 . If continuity does not exist, go to next step.
  9. Repair poor connection or open in Dark Blue wire between master switch assembly and left front window motor. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Recheck system operation.
  10. Connect a test light between ground and master switch assembly connector Dark Blue wire terminal. If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step  12 .
  11. Repair short to power in Dark Blue wire between master switch assembly and left front window motor. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Recheck system operation.
  12. Connect a test light between battery voltage and master switch assembly connector Dark Blue wire terminal. If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step  14 .
  13. Repair short to ground in Dark Blue wire between master switch assembly and left front window motor. Recheck system operation.
  14. Replace master switch assembly. See WINDOW SWITCH  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Recheck system operation.
  15. Replace left front window motor. See WINDOW MOTOR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Recheck system operation.
