Remote Keyless Entry System Operation Check

  1. Turn instrument panel dimmer switch off. Remove key from ignition switch. Close all vehicle doors. Press LOCK button on RKE transmitter. All doors should lock and courtesy lights should illuminate for 2 seconds. If operation is as specified, go to next step. If operation is not as specified, diagnose by symptom. See SYSTEM TESTS  .
  2. Press UNLOCK button on RKE transmitter. Courtesy lights should illuminate for 55 seconds and driver door will unlock. If operation is as specified, go to next step. If operation is not as specified, diagnose by symptom. See SYSTEM TESTS  .
  3. Press UNLOCK button again within 5 seconds. Remaining doors should unlock. If operation is as specified, go to next step. If operation is not as specified, diagnose by symptom. See SYSTEM TESTS  .
  4. Press trunk release button on RKE transmitter. Trunk lid should release. If operation is as specified, go to next step. If operation is not as specified, diagnose by symptom. See SYSTEM TESTS  .
  5. Close trunk lid. Press firmly on brake pedal. Start engine and shift transaxle into drive. Press trunk release button. Trunk should not release. If operation is not as specified, see appropriate POWER REAR COMPARTMENT & FUEL DOOR RELEASE SYSTEMS article.
