Description & Operation

WARNING: Vehicles are equipped with air bag supplemental restraint system. Before attempting ANY repairs involving steering column, instrument panel or related components, see SERVICE PRECAUTIONS and DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM in appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article.

Remote keyless entry system allows for the unlocking of driver's door, unlocking all doors, locking all doors, releasing trunk lid or sounding horn using a hand-held transmitter. The range of the transmitter is about 30 ft. The remote lock control transmitter has 4 buttons: door lock, door unlock, trunk release and horn. Remote keyless entry system also includes interior illumination. Interior lights will illuminate and remain on for 10 seconds or until ignition switch is turned to RUN position after depressing door unlock or trunk release functions on transmitter.

Depressing LOCK button on transmitter once will lock all doors. If the LOCK button is depressed a second time within 5 seconds, horn will chirp to indicate doors have been locked. Depressing UNLOCK button once will unlock driver's door and illuminate interior lights. If the UNLOCK button is depressed a second time within 5 seconds, all doors will be unlocked.

Depressing TRUNK RELEASE button on transmitter will release trunk lid and illuminate interior lights. The trunk release function is operational only when transaxle is in Park and trunk release lock-out (valet switch) is not engaged. Depressing HORN button on transmitter once will cause horn to chirp, headlamps and parking lamps to flash for up to one minute and illuminate interior lights. Pressing HORN button a second time or turning ignition on cancels the horn chirping and light flashing.
