Test F: Keyless Entry System Inoperative

  1. Test power door lock function by operating system with buttons on door switches. If doors locks operate properly, go to next step. If door locks do not operate properly, see POWER DOOR LOCKS - PRIZM article.
  2. Reprogram Remote Control Door Lock Receiver (RCDLR), see TRANSMITTER PROGRAMMING  under PROGRAMMING. If system does not operate properly, go to next step. If system operates properly, see SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  3. Disconnect RCDLR connector. Using DVOM, check for battery voltage at RCDLR connector terminal No. 8 (Blue/Yellow wire). See Figure. If battery voltage does not exist , go to next step. If battery voltage does exist, go to step  5.
  4. Repair open in Blue/Yellow wire between RCDLR and fuse and relay block No. 1. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . See SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  5. Turn ignition on. Connect a test light between RCDLR connector terminal No. 13 (Red/Blue wire) and ground. See Figure. If test light is off, go to next step. If test light is on, go to step  7.
  6. Repair open in Red/Blue wire between RCDLR connector and junction block No. 2. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . See SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  7. Test RCDLR connector terminal No. 1 (White/Black wire) for poor connection to ground. See Figure. If poor connection exists, go to next step. If poor connection does not exist, go to step  9.
  8. Repair open or poor connection in White/Black wire between RCDLR and ground connection G200. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . See SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  9. Remove ignition key from ignition lock cylinder. Using DVOM, test for short to ground at RCDLR connector terminal No. 10 (Blue/Black wire). See Figure. If a short to ground exists, go to next step. If a short to ground does not exist, go to step  11.
  10. Repair short to ground in Blue/Black wire between RCDLR connector and ignition key alarm switch. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . See SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  11. Using DVOM, test for open in Red/White wire between RCDLR connector terminal No. 14 and splice SP261. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If open exists, go to next step. If open does not exist, go to step  13.
  12. Repair open in Red/White wire between RCDLR connector terminal No. 14 and splice SP261. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . See SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  13. Replace RCDLR. See REMOTE CONTROL DOOR LOCK RECEIVER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Program transmitters, see TRANSMITTER PROGRAMMING  under PROGRAMMING. See SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
