ABS Auto Bleed Procedure

NOTE: Following procedures were written for use with TECH II scan tool. Other Generic Scan Tools (GSTs) can be used, but may have limited functions.
  1. Ensure battery is charged and no leaks are present in brake system. Raise and support vehicle. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn ignition on. Establish communication with ABS system. Select SPECIAL FUNCTIONS, then AUTOMATED BLEED PROCEDURE.
  2. Bleed base brake system. See MANUAL BLEEDING  . Follow scan tool directions until proper brake pedal height is achieved. If bleed procedure is aborted, a malfunction exists. If a DTC is detected, see appropriate DTC test and correct malfunction. Bleed base brake system again.
  3. Repeat automated bleed procedure, until proper brake pedal height is achieved. Disconnect scan tool. Check brake fluid level and add fluid as required. Road test vehicle to ensure pedal remains high and firm. Perform DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  .
