Charging System Test

  1. Check generator mounting. Check wiring harness electrical connections at generator. Check battery cables. Check drive belt tension. See BELT TENSION  under ADJUSTMENTS. Ensure battery is fully charged. Repair as necessary. Go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition on. If charge indicator light illuminates, go to next step. If charge indicator light does not illuminate, go to CHARGE INDICATOR LIGHT INOPERATIVE  .
  3. Start engine. Charge indicator light should turn off after engine starts. If charge indicator light remains illuminated, go to CHARGE INDICATOR LIGHT ALWAYS ON  .
