Diagnostic Aids
Check and repair the following as necessary:
- Binding, leaking or damaged throttle valve.
- Air leak into intake air supply.
- Restricted air intake system. Check for collapsed air intake duct, restricted air filter element, or foreign objects blocking air intake system.
- Throttle body for excessive carbon deposits in IAC air passage or on IAC pintle.
- Throttle body for excessive carbon deposits in throttle bore or on throttle plate of throttle body assembly.
An intermittent malfunction may be caused by a poor connection, rubbed-through wire insulation, or a wire broken inside insulation. Inspect harness connectors for backed-out terminals, improper mating, broken locks, improperly formed or damaged terminals, or poor terminal-to-wire connections before component replacement.
