BTSI Control Always On With Ignition On

  1. Turn ignition on. If gearshift lever can be moved from Park, go to next step. If gearshift lever cannot be moved from Park, check for intermittent problem.
  2. Disconnect shift lock relay. If BTSI solenoid disengages, go to next step. If BTSI solenoid does not disengage, go to step  6 .
  3. Check for short to voltage in shift lock relay battery feed circuit (Green/White wire) between brakelight switch and shift lock relay. If circuit is shorted, go to step  5 . If circuit is okay, go to next step.
  4. Replace shift lock relay. After repairs, go to step  9 .
  5. Repair short to voltage in Green/White wire between brakelight switch and shift lock relay. After repairs, go to step  9 .
  6. Check for short to voltage in BTSI solenoid control circuit (Blue/Green wire) between shift lock relay and BTSI solenoid. If circuit is shorted, go to next step. If circuit is okay, go to step  8 .
  7. Repair short to voltage in Blue/Green wire between BTSI solenoid and shift lock relay. After repairs, go to next step.
  8. Replace BTSI solenoid. After repairs, go to next step.
  9. Check system operation and verify repairs. See SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING. If system operates properly, system is okay. If system does not operate properly, repeat step  2 .
