Retained Accessory Power (Rap) On After Timeout

  1. Perform RETAINED ACCESSORY POWER (RAP) DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING. Go to next step.
  2. Verify fault exists. If system operates properly, fault may be intermittent. Check for damaged terminals, backed out terminals, poor terminal contact or chafed or internally broken wire. Check for intermittent connections and circuits by wiggling wires and connectors. If fault exists, go to next step.
  3. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove RAP relay from left I/P relay center located next to I/P fuse block. Operate power windows and sun roof (if equipped). If power windows and sun roof operate properly, go to next step. If power windows and sun roof does not operate properly, go to step  6 .
  4. Check for short to power in power windows and sun roof power feed circuits. Repair as necessary. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . After repair, go to step  10 . If power window and sun roof power feed circuits are okay, go to next step.
  5. Replace left I/P accessory wiring junction block. After repair, go to step  10 .
  6. Open any vehicle door. Remove key from ignition. Connected test light between ground and RAP relay coil feed harness connector terminal H2. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If test light illuminates, go to step  8 . If test light does not illuminate, go to next step.
  7. Replace RAP relay. After repair, go to step  10 .
  8. Check for short to power in RAP relay coil feed circuit (Black wire) between RAP relay harness connector terminal H2 and BCM harness connector C2 terminal B9. Repair as necessary. After repair, go to step  10 . If RAP relay coil feed circuit is okay, go to next step.
  9. Replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If vehicle is equipped with factory installed Central Theft Deterrent (CTD) anti-theft system, go to CENTRAL THEFT DETERRENT (CTD) RELEARN  under PROGRAMMING. Program feature customization settings. See ENTER FEATURE CUSTOMIZATION MODE  under PROGRAMMING. After setting BCM features, go to next step.
  10. Check system operation. If system operates properly, system okay at this time. If system does not operate properly, go to step  2 .
