Transmitter Test

NOTE: Ensure that transmitter is correct model for Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) system. Wrong transmitter will pass test, but will not work with vehicle. Ensure that transmitter is sychronized with vehicle. See TRANSMITTER SYNCHRONIZATION  under PROGRAMMING.
  1. Check BCM for DTCs. If DTCs are present, repair as necessary first. See SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM  .
  2. Turn on Keyless Entry Tester (J-43241). Place transmitter on keyless entry tester pad and press each button on transmitter. Tone should sound and Green light should light on keyless entry tester when each button is pressed. If keyless entry tester responds as specified, transmitter is okay. If keyless entry tester does not respond as specified, go to next step.
  3. If any buttons cause tone to sound and Green light to light on keyless entry tester, go to step  6 . If no buttons cause tone to sound and Green light to light on keyless entry tester, go to next step.
  4. Replace transmitter battery, and go to next step.
  5. Place transmitter on keyless entry tester pad and press each button on transmitter. Tone should sound and Green light should light on keyless entry tester when each button is pressed. If keyless entry tester responds as specified, go to step  7 . If keyless entry tester does not respond as specified, go to next step.
  6. Replace faulty transmitter. After replacement, transmitter must be programmed. See TRANSMITTER PROGRAMMING  under PROGRAMMING. After replacement, go to step  8 .
  7. Operate transmitter within range of vehicle. If RKE functions operate properly, transmitter is okay. If RKE functions do not operate properly, go to next step.
  8. Resynchronize transmitters. See TRANSMITTER SYNCHRONIZATION  under PROGRAMMING.
