Test D: Passenger Power Window Inoperative
- If door system diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If door system diagnostic system check has not been performed, go to DOOR SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Ensure window lockout feature is not enabled. Operate rear power windows to verify at least one repair power window is inoperative. If windows do not operate properly, go to next step. If windows operate properly, perform procedure while wiggling related wiring and connectors. This can often cause an intermittent malfunction to appear.
- If inoperative window operates from master window switch, go to next step. If inoperative window does not operate from master window switch, go to step 5 .
- Disconnect appropriate window switch 7-pin harness connector, located in door of inoperative window. Connect a test light between ground and inoperative window switch harness connector terminal "F" (Dark Blue wire). See Fig 1 . If test light does not illuminate, go to step 9 . If test light illuminates, go to step 13 .
- Disconnect appropriate window switch 7-pin harness connector, located in door of inoperative window. Connect a test light between ground and appropriate window switch harness connector terminal "G" (Dark Green wire on left rear; Light Green wire on right rear). See Fig 1 . Using master window switch, press appropriate window switch in up and down positions while observing test light. Connect a test light between ground and appropriate window switch harness connector terminal "A" (Purple wire). Using master window switch, press appropriate window switch in up and down positions while observing test light. If test light illuminates when master window switch is pressed to up position or down position, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate when master window switch is pressed to up position or down position, go to step 10 .
- If test light illuminates when master window switch was pressed in up and down positions, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate when master window switch was pressed in up and down positions, go to step 11 .
- Reconnect appropriate window switch harness connector, located in door of inoperative window. Disconnect inoperative window motor 2-pin harness connector, located in door of inoperative window. Connect a test light between ground and window motor harness connector Dark Blue wire terminal. Using master window switch, press appropriate window switch in up and down positions while observing test light. Connect a test light between ground and window motor harness connector Brown wire terminal. Using master window switch, press appropriate window switch in up and down positions while observing test light. If test light illuminates when master window switch is pressed to up position or down position, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate when master window switch is pressed to up position or down position, go to step 12 .
- If test light illuminates when master window switch was pressed in up and down positions, go to step 14 . If test light does not illuminate when master window switch was pressed in up and down positions, go to step 16 .
- Check for open in appropriate Dark Blue wire between inoperative window switch harness connector terminal "F" and master window switch. If problem is not found, go to step 15 . If problem is found, repair Dark Blue wire. After repairs, go to step 20 .
- Check for open in Dark Green wire or Light Green wire between appropriate window switch harness connector terminal "G" and master window switch, or Purple wire between appropriate switch and master window switch harness connector terminal "A". See Fig 1 . If problem is not found, go to step 15 . If problem is found, repair appropriate wire as necessary. After repairs, go to step 20 .
- Check for short to ground in Dark Green wire or Light Green wire between appropriate window switch harness connector terminal "G" and master window switch, or Purple wire between appropriate switch harness connector terminal "A" and master window switch. See Fig 1 . If problem is not found, go to step 15 . If problem is found, repair appropriate wire as necessary. After repairs, go to step 20 .
- Check for open in Dark Blue or Brown wire between appropriate window motor and appropriate window switch. If problem is not found, go to step 15 . If problem is found, repair appropriate wire as necessary. After repairs, go to step 20 .
- Check for poor connections at appropriate window switch. Perform procedure while wiggling related wiring and connectors. This can often cause an intermittent malfunction to appear. If problem is not found, go to step 18 . If problem is found, repair as necessary. After repairs, go to step 20 .
- Check for poor connections at appropriate window motor. Perform procedure while wiggling related wiring and connectors. This can often cause an intermittent malfunction to appear. If problem is not found, go to step 17 . If problem is found, repair as necessary. After repairs, go to step 20 .
- Check for poor connections at master window switch. Perform procedure while wiggling related wiring and connectors. This can often cause an intermittent malfunction to appear. If problem is not found, go to step 19 . If problem is found, repair as necessary. After repairs, go to step 20 .
- Repair short to ground in appropriate wire between inoperative window motor and appropriate window switch. After repairs, go to step 20 .
- Replace inoperative window motor. After repairs, go to step 20 .
- Replace inoperative window switch. See WINDOW SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, go to step 20 .
- Replace master window switch. See MASTER WINDOW SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, go to next step.
- Reconnect any disconnected switches and/or harness connectors. Operate power windows to verify repair. If power windows operate correctly, system is okay. If power windows do not operate correctly, go to step 2 .
NOTE:
Splice in Dark Blue wire is located 27" (686 mm) from passenger seat belt switch harness connector.
