Remote Keyless Entry System: Notes

Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) system is a supplementary vehicle entry device. RKE system is used in conjunction with door lock key. Radio frequencies or discharged batteries may disable system. RKE allows operation of door locks, rear compartment lid release, illuminated entry lights and panic alarm (instant alarm).

RKE system is equipped with RKE transmitters and Remote Control Door Lock Receiver (RCDLR). RCDLR communicates with Body Control Module (BCM) through RKE serial data circuit. When a button on RKE transmitter is pressed, transmitter sends a signal to RCDLR. RCDLR then sends a request to BCM, and BCM performs appropriate function.
