Test A: Charging System Test

  1. Check generator mounting. Check wiring harness electrical connections at generator. Check battery cables. Check drive belt tension. See BELT TENSION  under ADJUSTMENTS. Ensure battery is fully charged. If problem exists, repair as necessary and then go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. If charge indicator light illuminates, go to next step. If charge indicator light does not illuminate, go to TEST C: CHARGE INDICATOR LIGHT INOPERATIVE  .
  3. Start engine. If charge indicator lights turns off, system is okay. If charge indicator light stays illuminated, go to TEST B: CHARGE INDICATOR LIGHT ALWAYS ON  .
