Armature Test

Using an ohmmeter, measure resistance between commutator and armature core, and between commutator and shaft. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, armature is grounded, replace armature. Ensure continuity exists between any 2 commutator segments. If continuity does not exist, replace armature.
