Brushes & Springs Test

  1. Using an ohmmeter, check continuity between positive and negative brush holders. Continuity should not exist. If continuity exists, replace shorted brush holder assembly.
  2. Measure brush length and ensure spring tension is within specification. See STARTER SPECIFICATIONS . Check brush springs for corrosion or damage. Ensure brushes move freely in holders. Replace components as necessary.
