Crankshaft Position Sensor (Metro)

NOTE: Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor is monitored by Powertrain Control Module (PCM). Refer to DTC P0335 in appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS article.

Remove Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor from oil pan. See REMOVAL, OVERHAUL & INSTALLATION - CARS article. Connect DVOM leads across both terminals of CKP sensor. With DVOM set on ohms scale, observe DVOM as metal shaft of screwdriver is gently placed against magnetic end of CKP sensor. DVOM reading should switch from 360-460 ohms to infinity when metal shaft is contacting magnetic end of sensor and switch from infinity back to 360-460 ohms when metal shaft is taken away from magnetic end of sensor.
