Shift Interlock Cable
- Remove 6 screws retaining center console. Remove center console and rear console. Remove shift indicator cover if necessary. Loosen, but DO NOT remove shift interlock cable bolt. See Fig 1
. Ensure gearshift lever is in PARK position. While holding gearshift lever button in, rotate key release plate and insert a small screwdriver through key release plate to hold plate in position.
- Allow retaining spring to position shift interlock cable into correct position in bracket. Tighten shift interlock cable bolt to 115 INCH lbs. (13 N.m). Recheck operation prior to center console reassembly. Ensure key cannot be removed from ignition switch when gearshift lever is in any position except PARK position, and that gearshift lever cannot be moved from PARK position with ignition switch in LOCK position.
