Fuel System Pressure Release: Metro

  1. Loosen fuel filler cap to relieve pressure in fuel tank. Remove fuel pump relay from relay box. Relay box is located on left side of engine compartment, behind battery.
  2. Crank engine. Allow engine to start, then stall. After engine stalls, crank engine for an additional 3 seconds to relieve any remaining fuel pressure. Disconnect negative battery cable. Place shop towel around component to be serviced to reduce chance of personal injury.
  3. After repair of fuel-related component, connect negative battery cable. Install fuel pump relay in relay box and tighten fuel filler cap.
