Description & Operation

WARNING: Vehicles are equipped with air bag supplemental restraint system. Before attempting any repairs involving steering column, instrument panel or related components, see SERVICE PRECAUTIONS and DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM in appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article.

Power window system consists of a power window master switch, front passenger window switch, driver's side power window motor, front passenger's side power window motor and PWR WDO circuit breaker (30-amp). Rear quarter window system includes left rear and right rear window actuators and interior lamp/multifunction switch.

Power window system can be controlled by power window up or down switch activation. When ignition switch is in RUN position, or Retained Accessory Power (RAP) is enabled and power window master switch is pressed in DOWN position, battery voltage is applied to power window motor causing power window to open. When power window master switch is pressed in UP position, voltage is applied to window motor in opposite direction and window closes. Power window master switch also controls passenger's side power window.

Driver's side window will travel to full down position when power window master switch is pressed past first detent. Pressing power window master switch to UP position, cancels express down feature. When ignition switch is in RUN position and front passenger window switch is pressed in DOWN position, voltage is applied to power window motor causing passenger side window to open. When front passenger window switch is pressed in UP position, voltage is applied to power window motor in opposite direction causing passenger side window to close.

Rear quarter windows can be operated by rear quarter switch on interior lamp multifunction switch.

Rear quarter windows will operate under when ignition switch is in RUN position or when RAP voltage is supplied. Rear quarter switch is operated in open or close direction.

When rear quarter window switch is depressed to OPEN position, battery voltage is applied to open circuit and ground is provided through close circuit, to both rear quarter window actuators. When rear quarter window switch is depressed to CLOSE position, battery voltage is applied to close circuit and ground is provided through open circuit, to both rear quarter window actuators.
