Test A: Alarm Button Inoperative

  1. Perform Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) system diagnostic system check. See REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If RKE system diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step.
  2. Using RKE transmitter, operate panic function. If horn sounds and headlights flash on and off, check for intermittent problem. See DIAGNOSING INTERMITTENTS  . Repair or replace as necessary. If horn does not sound and headlights do not flash on and off, go to next step.
  3. If horn does not sound and headlights do not flash on and off, go to TEST B: REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM INOPERATIVE  . If only, horn sounds or headlights flash on and off, go to next step.
  4. If headlights flash on and off, check horn operation. See appropriate STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article. If headlights do not flash on and off, check exterior lighting operation. See appropriate EXTERIOR LIGHTS article.
