STOPLAMP Switch

NOTE: Adjust the stoplamp switch and cruise control release switch at the same time. The adjustment procedures for the stoplamp switch and the cruise control release switch are identical.
  1. Remove left side insulator panel. See INSULATOR PANEL (LEFT SIDE)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. With the brake pedal fully released, ensure the stoplamp switch plunger is fully depressed against the brake pedal shanks. See Fig 1 .
  2. If switch position is not as specified, push the brake pedal forward in order to set the brake push rod into the booster. Push the stoplamp switch and the cruise control switch (if equipped) further into the brake pedal bracket. See Fig 2 .
  3. Pull the brake pedal to the rear, against the internal stop. The stoplamp switch and cruise control switch will automatically adjust. Inspect the stoplamps for proper operation. Install left side insulator panel. See INSULATOR PANEL (LEFT SIDE)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
