Fuel System Pressure Release

CAUTION: DO NOT perform this procedure if engine is hot. Raw fuel entering catalytic converter could damage the converter catalyst.
  1. Loosen fuel filler cap to relieve pressure in fuel tank. Remove circuit opening relay. Circuit opening relay is located under left side of instrument panel, above kick panel.
  2. Crank engine. Allow engine to start, then stall. After engine stalls, crank engine for an additional 3 seconds to relieve any remaining fuel pressure. Disconnect negative battery cable. Place shop towel around component to be serviced to reduce chance of personal injury.
  3. After repair of fuel-related component, connect negative battery cable. Install circuit opening relay and tighten fuel filler cap.
