Mechanical Inspection: Compression

Allow engine to cool before removing spark plugs to reduce damage to aluminum cylinder head. Ensure battery is fully charged. Remove engine cover. Remove all 4 ignition coils from cylinder head cover. Remove spark plugs. Remove EFI relay from fuse/relay block No. 1. Fuse/relay block No. 1 is located at left front side of engine compartment, to left of air cleaner. Check engine mechanical condition with a compression gauge, vacuum gauge, or engine analyzer with throttle fully open. See engine analyzer manual for specific instructions. See COMPRESSION SPECIFICATIONS  table. Install and tighten spark plugs to 21 ft. lbs. (28 N.m).

Minimum Compression Pressure 145 psi (10.2 kg/cm2 )
Maximum Variation Between Cylinders 15 psi (1.0 kg/cm2 )
