Installation Procedure

Install the spring (9) to the pump.
Install the flow control valve (8) to the pump.
NOTE: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Install the seal (7) and the fitting (6) to the pump.
Tighten

Tighten the fitting to 83 N.m (61 lb ft).
Install the seal (5) and the gasket (4) to the fitting.
Install the pump tube (3) to the pump.
Install the gasket (2) to the pump tube.
Install the fitting (1) to the pump tube.
Tighten

Tighten the fitting to 69 N.m (51 lb ft).

NOTE: When adding fluid or making a complete fluid change, always use the proper power steering fluid. Failure to use the proper fluid will cause hose and seal damage and fluid leaks.

Fill the power steering fluid reservoir. Refer to Checking and Adding Power Steering Fluid .
NOTE: If the power steering system has been serviced, an accurate fluid level reading cannot be obtained unless air is bled from the steering system. The air in the fluid may cause pump cavitation noise and may cause pump damage over a period of time.
Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Bleeding the Power Steering System .
