Removal Procedure
- Siphon the power steering fluid from the reservoir.
- Remove the serpentine drive belt. Refer to DRIVE BELT REPLACEMENT
.NOTE: Do not start the vehicle with any power steering gear inlet or outlet hoses disconnected. When disconnected, plug or cap all openings of components. Failure to do so could result in contamination or loss of power steering fluid and damage to the system.
- Remove the power steering gear inlet hose fitting and the power steering gear inlet pipe/hose from the pump.
- Loosen the power steering fluid reservoir outlet hose clamp.
- Remove the power steering fluid reservoir outlet hose from the pump.
- Raise and support the vehicle.
- Remove the RH front tire and wheel. Refer to TIRE AND WHEEL REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove the six bolts and the RH lower engine splash shield (1).
- Remove the following from the vehicle:
- The 2 power steering pump bolts
- The 2 power steering pump nuts
- The power steering pump and pulley
- Secure the power steering pump and pulley in a soft jawed vise.
- Remove the pulley nut and the pulley from the power steering pump.
