Diagnostic Procedures

  1. Perform diagnostic system check - engine controls. See DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK - ENGINE CONTROLS  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. After performing diagnostic system check - engine controls, go to next step.
  2. Start engine. Disconnect IAT sensor harness connector. Operate engine for at least one minute. Ensure MIL is illuminated. Reconnect IAT sensor harness connector. Turn ignition off. Wait one minute. Turn ignition on, with engine off. Using scan tool, check for DTCs. Is a DTC P0113 indicated? If yes, see DIAGNOSTIC AIDS  . If no, go to next step.
  3. Turn OFF the ignition. Disconnect the PCM connectors. Measure the voltage from the battery positive voltage circuit to ground using a DMM. Is the voltage about B+? If yes, go to step  5 . If no, go to next step.
  4. Check the battery positive voltage circuit for an open or a short between the PCM and the fuse block 2. Repair as necessary. Was a repair necessary? If yes, go to step  7 . If no, see DIAGNOSTIC AIDS  .
  5. Check for poor connections at PCM. Repair as necessary. Was a repair necessary? If yes, go to step  7 . If no, go to next step.
  6. Replace PCM. Perform PCM relearn procedure. See POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE  under PROGRAMMING. After replacing PCM, go to next step.
  7. Turn ignition off. Remove DOME fuse for 30 seconds (fuse is located in passenger compartment fuse block). Reinstall DOME fuse. Reset radio clock time. Start engine. Operate vehicle within the conditions for running the DTC or until DTC P1510 diagnostic test has run. Does the DTC run and pass? If yes, go to next step. If no, go to step 2 .
  8. Using scan tool, observe stored information and Capture Info. Does the scan tool display any DTCs that you have not diagnosed? If yes, diagnose affected DTCs. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS  . If no, system is okay.
