Test Description

The numbers below refer to the step numbers in the diagnostic procedure.

1. 1
   
   The DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK-ENGINE CONTROLS under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM in appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS article, prompts technician to complete some basic checks, and to save applicable "Freeze Frame" data on scan tool. This creates an electronic copy of data that was taken when fault occurred. The electronic copy can then be referred to for later reference.

   This step determines if fuel pump relay can operate fuel pump.
3. 5
   
   This step checks control circuit of fuel pump relay.
4. 7
   
   This step determines if coil side of fuel pump circuit is operating correctly.
5. 10
   
   This step checks for an electrical fault in fuel tank or in fuel pump wire harness.
6. 17
   
   This step determines whether switched side of fuel pump relay is always closed.
