Test Description

The numbers below refer to the step numbers in the diagnostic procedure.

1. 1
   
   The DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK - ENGINE CONTROLS, prompts technician to complete some basic checks and store "Freeze Frame" data on scan tool if applicable. This creates an electronic copy of data taken when fault occurred. Information is then stored in scan tool for later reference.
2. 6
   
   This step will verify whether PCM is not providing a ground path for main relay circuit. When terminal No. 2 of main relay is grounded, main relay turns on.
3. 9
   
   This step checks for ignition positive voltage at PCM. PCM will not operate main relay if there is no power to terminal No. 20.
4. 11
   
   This step checks for an open in PCM electrical grounds. PCM will not operate main relay if there are no electrical grounds.
