Tire Pressure Monitoring Sensor: Notes

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2001 Cadillac Seville. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Tire pressure monitor (TPM) system interfaces with Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) through serial data line. Once program mode is accessed through Remote Control Door Lock Receiver (RCDLR), each sensor's unique identification code can be programmed into RCDLR memory. Each sensor must transmit an unique code in proper sequence. A magnet must be held close to sensor in order to force sensor to transmit identification code. Receiver also sends a message to Dash Integration Module (DIM) to sound horn once, indicating that sensor properly transmitted an identification code. If a programming sequence is cancelled before any sensor is programmed, or if vehicle's battery is disconnected, receiver will remember all current identification codes. As soon as receiver learns first sensor identification code, all previously stored codes are erased from RCDLR memory.
