Removal Procedure
IMPORTANT:
Clean all the fuel pipe connections and surrounding areas before disconnecting the pipes in order to avoid possible contamination of the fuel system.
- Relieve the fuel system pressure. Refer to the Fuel Pressure Relief Procedure .
- Disconnect the fuel feed and return pipes (1) from the fuel rail. Refer to Quick Connect Fitting(s) Service (Metal Collar) .
- Cap the fuel rail pipes.
- Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
- Remove the fuel pipe bracket nut (2).
- Remove the fuel pipe bracket from the bellhousing stud.
- Remove the fuel lines from the retaining clips (1) on the transmission.
- Disconnect the fuel feed and return lines from the rear fuel feed and return lines. Refer to Quick Connect Fitting(s) Service (Plastic Collar) .
- Disconnect the fuel line from the fuel filter. Refer to Quick Connect Fitting(s) Service (Plastic Collar) .
- Cap the rear fuel lines.
- Remove the fuel line bundle.IMPORTANT: Note the position of the fuel bundle clips prior to disassembly.
- Remove the fuel line bundle retaining clips.
- Remove the fuel feed, return, and/or evaporative emission (EVAP) pipe to be replaced.
