Diagnostic Procedures
- Perform diagnostic system check - engine controls. See DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK - ENGINE CONTROLS under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. After performing diagnostic system check - engine controls, go to next step.
- Start engine. Perform the scan tool clear DTC information function. Operate engine for at least one minute or until the MIL illuminates. Turn ignition off. Is a DTC P1510 set? If yes, go to next step. If no, see DIAGNOSTIC AIDS .
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect PCM connectors. Measure the voltage from the battery positive voltage circuit to ground using a DVOM. Is the voltage about battery voltage? If yes, go to step 5. If no, go to next step.
- Repair battery positive voltage circuit for an open or a short between the PCM and fuse block No. 2. After repairs, go to step 7.
- Check for a poor connection at the PCM. Repair as necessary. Was a repair necessary? If yes, go to step 7. If no, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Replace PCM. Perform PCM relearn procedure. See POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE under PROGRAMMING. After replacing PCM, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Remove DOME fuse (located in passenger compartment fuse block). Reinstall DOME fuse. Reset radio clock time. Start engine. Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC or until the DTC P01451 diagnostic test has run. See CONDITIONS FOR RUNNING DTC . Does the DTC run and pass? If yes, go to next step. If no, go to step 2.
- Using scan tool, observe stored information and Capture Info. Does the scan tool display any DTCs that you have not diagnosed? If yes, see DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS . If no, system is okay.
