Diagnostic Procedures

  1. Drain fuel tank
  2. Remove fuel tank.
  3. Plug fuel feed hose, fuel return pipe and fuel vapor pipe on fuel tank.
  4. Plug fuel filler neck opening.
  5. Connect a piece of the hose to the breather hose nipple on the fuel tank and secure with one clamp.
  6. Submerge fuel tank in water or apply a soapy solution to the outside of tank.
  7. Apply 1-2 psi (7-15 kPa) air pressure to breather hose.
  8. Air bubbles appearing from fuel tank indicate a leak.
  9. Replace fuel tank if tank is leaking.
